Sweets to Teach
The CCSR 5th graders noticed that some of their teachers, in particular the specialists, were in need of general supplies. The students interviewed all the 5th grade teachers, and specials teachers (art, music, gym, computer, Nexus, library) to find out what supplies were most needed, and at the advice of the school administration, decided to focus on cleaning supplies, and whiteboard markers. In order to prepare for the fundraiser, they researched prices online and came up with a basic budget.
In order to raise funds to purchase supplies, the students decided to sell homemade baked goods at two Missituk evening events: movie night and game night. They baked with their families, then set up the table and sold enough treats to meet their fundraising goal! After we purchased the supplies, the students packaged and delivered them to each teacher: Tissues, Clorox wipes, Paper towels, Hand sanitizer, Whiteboard markers and copy paper.
