Medford Public Schools and Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility to Host Dedication Ceremony for Krystle Campbell Memorial Garden on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

MEDFORD—Medford Public Schools (MPS) and the Center for Citizenship and Social Responsibility (CCSR) program will be hosting a dedication ceremony for the new Krystle Campbell Memorial Garden on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 3:00 p.m. at the front entrance of Medford High School.

The new garden will honor Campbell, a 2001 Medford High School graduate who tragically passed away during the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The memorial garden will celebrate her life and passion for bringing people together.

“The Krystle Campbell Memorial Garden is a celebration of Krystle’s spirit,” said CCSR Director Rich Trotta. “It is a reminder of the importance of caring about others and spreading kindness.”

The new garden is supported by the Krystle Campbell Community Betterment Project, a partnership between the CCSR program and the Krystle Campbell Memorial Fund at the Boston Foundation. The purpose of the initiative is to identify and financially support student-driven projects that benefit the community.

As part of the partnership, MPS CCSR students propose and develop projects to spread Krystle’s enthusiasm for fostering community spirit. MPS students from all grade levels are welcome to join the CCSR, where they can create projects that incorporate social-emotional learning, empathy, compassion and citizenship to help others.

Meanwhile, the Krystle Campbell Memorial Fund at the Boston Foundation serves to make gifts in honor and remembrance of Campbell to charitable causes important to her and her family.
