Knock Out Hunger; Compassion Can Have a Domino Effect; Cereal Box Dominions

During the month of September, our club members wanted to create a fun and unique way to help children who were not able to eat breakfast due to food insecurity. Students came up with the idea of cereal box dominos. After watching several YouTube video clips of this idea that has been done around the county, they decided to bring this on as our first official project. Students began calling all local grocery stores for donations, making posters to place around the school, and asking family members to start donating. They have collected 375 boxes of cereal with a goal of 500. Once they hit 500 boxes, students and staff will set up the boxes in a domino placement and watch them “Knock Down Hunger”. All cereal boxes will then be donated to local food pantries to be distributed to families in need. Special thanks to Wegmans, Stop & Shop, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Shaw’s for making large donations to our project. Thank you to Mr. Downs, Ms. Lalli, staff, and everyone who has supported CCSR with this project.
