Share Table at Cafeteria
The goal of this project is to try to reduce food waste at school during breakfast and lunch. The students working on this project would like to suggest the idea of having a table at the cafeteria where students can put unopened non- perishable food that they don’t intend to eat, instead of throwing it out. They have noticed a lot of perfectly intact food ends up in the trash. Sometimes breakfast and lunch come as a bundle, and kids have to take items that they don’t want, or they take too much, or they change their mind after taking the food. Having a share table will allow other kids to take this food directly from there and reduce the waste.
Students will meet with school administrators to present their concerns about this topic, and talk about their ideas.
