Art Club Projects
Andrews Middle School Art Club will create and or recreate works in the style of Amy Sherald, Dyani White Hawk and Maya Lin. Each of the artists is a woman of color like Madeleine Dugger Andrews, the school’s namesake. The project’s goal will be to bring attention to and raise student awareness of contemporary art and the important role women of color play in its creation.
Art club will utilize time after school to create works during the months of February, March and April. Installation will occur the week of May 1.
The presentation will take the form of school wide postings of works created by art club members in the style of Sherald, White Hawk and Lin. The works will be posted in public areas throughout the school along with text explaining the importance of the artists.
